What happens when something you thought would last forever ends abruptly?
The loss of your possessions.
The end of a relationship.
A divorce.
The death of someone you deeply love.
Loss has a way of shaking the foundations beneath us. It doesn’t just take away what we had; it often tries to steal our hope for tomorrow. It’s why, after a significant loss, you can wake up wondering what life is even about anymore.
As Queen Elizabeth II once said, “Grief is the price we pay for love.”
To love is to become vulnerable. Every time we give our hearts to people, dreams, places, or seasons, we accept the possibility that one day we may grieve them.
If this is the season you’re currently in, stay in the arms of Jesus. I have found safety, love, and assurance there. Bring Him your honest heart. Be vulnerable with Him. He handles feedback really well. ❤️
Don’t walk through grief alone. Recognize the Holy Spirit as your greatest ally. He is the Comforter. He nurtures, restores, and gently heals what pain has shattered. Allow Him to nurse you back to health.
Hold on to hope a minute at a time if a day at a time feels too much to handle, even if today it feels like you’re only holding it by a thread.
Allow yourself to feel. Don’t rush the process or silence your emotions. Grief needs room to breathe. Access our grief journal here.
Express your heart through prayer, journaling, conversations with trusted people, tears, or quiet moments in God’s presence.
Today, sadness may feel like all you know.
But it won’t always be.
Your spark will return.
The lump in your chest will grow lighter.
You’ll find yourself carrying life again with a strength you thought you’d lost.
The memories that once only brought unbearable pain will, in time, be accompanied by gratitude for what was, not only longing for what could have been.
There is light beyond this season.
And one day, you won’t simply survive your grief; you’ll discover that, by God’s grace, you have been transformed by it.
