Get your skin in the game

“All those who say that they are Christ’s, and then go ahead to live ungodly lives, stain the name of Christ”. Charles Spurgeon

That was the inscription on the wall as King Belshazzar, his nobles, wives and concubines feasted at the palace. The King had an idea and then gave orders to bring in the gold and silver cups they had taken from the temple in Jerusalem. The same cups that only the High Priest who had gone through the Jewish tradition of purification could use and only on the feast days.

As they feasted, they saw the fingers of human handwriting on the wall. Yes, literally just the hand as it wrote those words. That will be a great opening scene for a horror movie. What follows is the king’s knees knocking together in fear over and over again, and his legs eventually gave way. The visual is hilarious and the scene/script goes from horror to comedy in one swift move.

Daniel is eventually called in to interpret and he says the King’s days are numbered, he has been weighed on the scales and found wanting and the kingdom has been taken away from him. That very night, King Belshazzar was killed.

You want to ask, “what was the king thinking?”. How dare he desecrate sacred Chinas but you must also remember that you are also a sacred China because God lives in you.

“Do you not know that you are a temple of God and that the spirit of God dwells in you?” I Cor. 3:16

As Noah’s ark berthed, the dove was released to find a resting place. The dove could find no place to land because the water still covered the ground, so it returned to the ark. In like manner, the Holy Ghost requires a Holy Host. God is not going to cast His pearls before swine “because it is written, be ye holy: for I am holy” 1 Peter 1:16.

God is coming for a ready bride. One who is recognizable because she looks like Him.

“Our relationship with God should shift from a child’s immature love for their father to a bride’s mature devotion to her husband” Stephen Blalock.

We are expected to look like him. There is no ‘once saved always saved’. God will spit you out of his mouth if you are lukewarm or sitting on the fence. A lifestyle of dabbling into sin, one where one day you are with God and the next you are living a life of debauchery is not acceptable for the kingdom.

The Psalmist said “… I shall be satisfied when I awake in your likeness” Psalm 17:15.

As Elijah asked, how long will you waver between two opinions? If the Lord is God, follow him and morph into him, until oneness is attained. So that anyone who sees you knows you are representative of the Kingdom, a worthy ambassador. It’s not getting into an organisation and announcing that you are born again but letting them deduce this from your lifestyle. Actions do speak louder than words. The one who puts his hand to the plough and looks back isn’t fit for the kingdom

The book of Revelation cites the marriage of the lamb and of note is the mention that the wife has made herself ready. For this, she was granted to be arrayed in fine linen, clean and bright for the fine linen is the righteous acts of the saints.

God is not mocked. The Holy Ghost requires a Holy Host.
